My High Intensity Team

Cortiguard

Cortiguard

I'm not a high-strung person by nature, someone who just 'lets it all out.' I'm more of a 'slow-burner,' which is typical of type A's and probably more dangerous.  I find when I take this product for a few days during high-stress periods I function better and move through the difficult time easier.

Dr. Peter J. D'Adamo, D'Adamo Personalized Nutrition's Master Formulator

I've always had a fascination with supplements, even since I was a kid and worked in my father's dispensary.  At the time, he had bulk supplements, and my job was to count the pills and put them in bottles and label them (this wouldn't fly now with all the changes in the supplement industry).  I loved the sounds of the pills tumbling out of the bottles, the multitude of smells (bile salts were the worst;  papaya enzymes the best).  It seemed like a natural evolution that as I became a naturopath and looked at the roles that supplements played in health and healing, that I would start designing products.  I only formulate the ones I either need to take or need to give to my patients.

I find formulating to be a mysterious blend of science and art, and I've learned a tremendous amount about production "flow," which is how to take my ideas and formulations and get them into a capsule.  I've also learned a lot about what goes into making a high quality supplement, for instance:

  • Maintaining Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Assaying for bacterial content of all raw materials
  • Eliminating unnecessary binders and fillers
  • Avoiding raw materials of known GMO origin
  • Performing regular stability studies

Next time you price-compare and see a supplement advertised at some ridiculously low price point, you can be certain that someone skipped any number of these steps.

I also learned a thing or two about how to build a company around making unique formulations:

  • Train and maintain a professional customer service staff
  • Set a company policy of  'service ahead of sales'
